Sheffield Wednesday welcome Cardiff City to Hillsborough on Monday as they go head to head in the Championship.

This will be the 73rd meeting between the two sides, with the first coming in 1920 in which Cardiff came out 1-0 winners.
It’s been a very even fixture in recent times, with six of the last 10 games ending as draws.
The reverse fixture did have a winner, though, with Wednesday taking all three points with a 2-0 win.
Here’s a lowdown on our opponents…
Their Season So Far
The Bluebirds still have a chance of making their way into the play-offs, sitting just points away from the top six.
It looked as if they were in for an average season, not much threat of relegation and no real chance of promotion.
That was until Mick McCarthy came in. The Irishman arrived in January and since then, they have completely turned their form around.
If you look at a Championship table that started at the time of his arrival, Cardiff would be sitting in fourth place.
They have been very good on the road under McCarthy as well, unbeaten in eight with five wins and three draws.
Key Player – Kieffer Moore
The 28-year-old is Cardiff’s top goal-scorer so far this season, with 16 goals from 34 appearances.
Due to his big 1.95m frame, Moore is used as a more typical number nine, meaning Cardiff will try to go direct to him quickly and then play off him.
He is a good finisher when he’s in the area, hitting the target with 40% of his shots this season. When you compare that, with the league’s top goal-scorer Ivan Toney, he’s only just 2% behind.
The Welshman has come up against Wednesday six times in his career, scoring just one goal in those games.
Last Five Meetings
12/09/20 – Cardiff City 0-2 Sheffield Wednesday:
Josh Windass put Wednesday a goal to the good early on before Jordan Rhodes doubled their lead.
It was a surprising result which meant The Owls dented their -12 points tally on the opening day.
29/12/19 – Sheffield Wednesday 1-2 Cardiff
It was an exciting first 20 minutes as Robert Glatzel put Cardiff 2-0 up after just eight minutes.
Tom Lees went on to pull one back for The Owls 10 minutes later but it wasn’t enough to prevent Cardiff from winning their first game in five.
18/10/19 – Cardiff City 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday
It was heartbreak for Wednesday fans as a Lee Tomlin free-kick with minutes to go saw Cardiff extend their unbeaten home run.
Julian Borner volleyed home after a Kadeem Harris shot to put Wednesday 1-0 up but they couldn’t hold out to earn their fourth win from six games.
20/01/18 – Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Cardiff City
Cardiff looked to move level on points with second-place Derby County, whilst Wednesday were looking to get their second win in 12.
The Owls had the chances to win the game, with Adam Reach slicing over with the goal gaping, whilst Lucas Joao missed several opportunities.
16/07/17 – Cardiff City 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday
Wednesday were destined for their third win on the bounce before a Sol Bamba goal, five minutes deep into injury time denied that.
The Owls got a well deserved goal through a Gary Hooper in the first-half but couldn’t quite hold out for all three points.
