The Owls take on Coventry City at St. Andrews on Saturday as Championship action returns.

Wednesday made it to the fourth round of the FA Cup at the weekend with a 2-0 win over Exeter City and will hope to continue their good form.
Coventry, on the other hand, will hope to bounce back from being knocked out of the cup in a 2-0 defeat to Norwich City.
A win for The Owls will give them a little bit of space from the bottom three. If results go their way, they could go up to 19th spot and just four points behind their opposition.
Wednesday won the last meeting between the two sides, coming away with a 1-0 win last month.
Before that game The Owls hadn’t met Coventry for over 10 years. It’s actually the hosts that have come out on top on more occasions in this fixture in the past.
Having met a total of 83 times, the first coming in the FA Cup in 1911, Wednesday have won a total of 29 times.
How will Saturday’s 90 minutes play out?
We take a look…
- Will Sheffield Wednesday beat Coventry City? Yes
Neil Thompson’s men have been on good form recently having won all three games since he took over from Tony Pulis.
The Owls have also only lost once in their last five league games, picking up 10 points along the way.
Wednesday have also won their last three home games in the league, whilst only losing at Hillsborough three times this season.
Coventry on the other hand, have only won once in their last five league games whilst only managing to score in the one game they picked up all three points.
2. How many goals will Sheffield Wednesday score? 1
Scoring goals has been a bit of problem this season for Wednesday. They have only found the net on 15 occasions, the lowest amount in the league.
Since Thompson has took over though, they have managed to find the net twice in two of his three games in charge, however an average of 0.7 goals a game doesn’t look great.
The hosts aren’t the greatest at keeping the ball out of the net either, conceding the joint second most amount in the league.
With 31 goals conceded so far this season, Coventry are averaging 1.3 goals conceded per game.
3. Will Sheffield Wednesday score in the second half? Yes
As previously stated, Wednesday just haven’t scored many goals. Just six of those 15 goals have come in the second half.
As well as that, The Owls have only scored two away goals in the second half this season.
The thing is, Coventry do let a lot of goals in at their end and they have let in a massive 23 goals in 23 games in the second half alone.
Most of those have come away from home, however they have still conceded nine second half goals in 11 games.
4. How many corners will Sheffield Wednesday be awarded? 4+
The Owls haven’t won a massive amount of corners so far this season with 73 corner kicks won.
That averages at about 3.1 per game. They have also only won four or more corners in 10 of their 23 league games.
Coventry however, have conceded 100 corners so far this season. This averages at around 4.3 corners conceded per game.
So there is a big chance that Wednesday could get a few corners in this game.
5. How many shots on target will Sheffield Wednesday have? 3
You have to have shots on target to score and The Owls have only had 67 of them in the league so far this season.
This averages around 2.9 shots on target per game. Since Thompson has taken over though, they have managed at least three shots on target in each game.
When you concede as many goals as Coventry have, their goalkeepers are bound to be busy.
So far, they’ve faced 85 shots on target this season, which averages at around 3.7 per game.
6. How many saves will Sheffield Wednesday goalkeepers make? 3
Only eight teams in the Championship have conceded less goals than Wednesday this season, having let in 23 goals.
The goalkeepers have been kept fairly busy as well, facing 71 shots on their goal. At an average of around 3.1 shots on target faced per game, they’re not having to do as much work as the players in-between the posts for Coventry.
Saturday’s opponents are however having more shots on target than Wednesday.
They’ve amassed 80 SoT so far this season, which averages at around 3.4 per game. So if the trend is to continue then Wednesday’s goalkeeper will have to make a few saves if they are to keep a clean sheet.
- Will Sheffield Wednesday be awarded a penalty? No
- How many goals will Callum Paterson score? 0
- Will Adam Reach assist a goal? No
- How many shots on target will Callum Paterson have? 1
- How many tackles will Liam Shaw make? 2
- Will Adam Reach score? No
- Will Barry Bannan assist a goal? No
- How many tackles will Joey Pelupessy make? 2
